Getting started

Create an account in a minute. Sign in with a password or with Google, Apple or Telegram.

Type your name or email and your password, or choose Continue with Google, Continue with Apple or Continue with Telegram. The eye button shows the password you typed.

You stay signed in for 30 days. When you change your password, every other device is signed out. After several wrong passwords the form waits a few minutes before it accepts new attempts, so nobody can guess a password.

The sign-in screen

Create an account

Press Create an account, enter your email and a password of at least 8 characters. Your name and the name of your workspace are optional. You get your own workspace on the free plan, and you are its administrator.

Mewboard then sends a confirmation link to your email. It works for 3 days. Resend the email sends a new one. On servers that only accept invited people, the form also asks for an Invitation code.

Create an account
The confirmation email is on its way

Google, Apple and Telegram

With Google or Apple, Mewboard finds your account by your confirmed email, or creates a new one. Telegram needs no email at all. To add Telegram to an account you already have, open My account and press Connect Telegram under Sign in with Telegram.

Forgot your password

Forgot password? on the sign-in screen sends a link to choose a new password. The link works once and for one hour. The answer looks the same whether or not the address has an account, so nobody can use it to check who is registered.

Finding your way around

A sidebar on the left, the page on the right. Everything is one or two clicks away.

The window

The sidebar holds your workspace, the notification bell, your projects and your settings. The page shows the project you opened: its name, search, Filter, Display, New issue, and the tabs Board, List, Timeline, Calendar, Milestones and Overview.

A project board, with the sidebar on the left

Pin projects and sort them into groups

Point at a project in the sidebar and press the three dots. Pin to the top keeps it above everything else. Move to group puts it into a group, and New group… creates one, for example Clients or Internal. The folder button next to the projects heading also creates a group.

Drag projects with the mouse to change their order or to move them between groups. Click a group to fold it. The group menu can rename it, move it up or down, or delete it (its projects stay). Your layout is yours alone, and it follows you to every device.

The project menu in the sidebar

All projects

Every project of the workspace, as Cards, a List or a Timeline. A card shows the status, the start of the description, a progress bar and the dates. Progress is the share of issues that are Done.

  • Search projects looks in names, keys and descriptions as you type.
  • Filter shows projects by status (Planned, Active, Paused, Completed, Canceled) and by target date: overdue, the next 7 or 30 days, later, finished or without a date. Each choice shows how many projects it has.
  • Sort orders them by date of creation, name, target date, progress or the number of open issues.
  • On the timeline each project is a bar from its start to its target date. Drag the bar or its ends to change the dates.

Your choice of view, filter and order is remembered in this browser.

Several workspaces

A workspace is a separate space with its own projects and people, for example one per client or one for a side project. Click the workspace name at the top of the sidebar to switch, or choose New workspace… to create one. You can be the administrator of up to three workspaces and a member of any number.

Your role is set per workspace: you can be the administrator in one and a viewer in another. Everything you see, including search and notifications, belongs to the workspace that is open.

Switching workspaces

Join a workspace by link

An administrator sends you an invitation link. Open it while you are signed in, press Join, and the workspace appears in your list with the role the link gives. A link works once and for 14 days. You can leave a workspace later in My account.

Joining a workspace

Trash

Deleted issues and whole projects wait in the trash for 14 days, then they are erased with their comments and files. Restore brings an item back exactly as it was. Delete forever erases it at once, and Empty trash erases everything. The trash is shared by the whole workspace.

Two issues and a project in the trash

Send feedback

Found a bug or have an idea? Send feedback in the sidebar sends a note straight to the Mewboard team, with your name and the page you are on.

Your menu

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. My account is for your profile, password and connected apps. Administrators also see People and Connected apps. Sign out ends the session on this device.

Projects

A project holds issues, milestones, files and notes. Each one has a short key that names its issues.

Create a project

Press New project on the projects page or the plus next to the projects heading in the sidebar. Only the name is required. The key is 1 to 8 letters or digits: WEB turns issues into WEB-1, WEB-2 and so on. Leave it empty and Mewboard makes one from the name. You can also add a description and the start and target dates.

The free plan has up to 5 projects per workspace. Projects in the trash do not count.

A new project

Issue numbers and links

Every issue gets a number like WEB-12 that never changes and is never given to another issue, even after the first one is deleted. Each issue has its own link, and each comment has one too. The link button next to the number copies it. People and agents use these numbers to point at the same issue.

Overview

The Overview tab is the project's front page: the description with pictures and links, the dates, the project's files and comments about the whole project. Edit changes the name, description and dates. Drop files anywhere on the description to attach them, or press Attach files.

Below are the project's Email and Telegram settings, described under Requests from outside.

A project overview with a picture and a PDF in its files

Project status

Next to the description: Planned, Active, Paused, Completed or Canceled. The status shows on the projects page and works in its filter. A completed or canceled project is never shown as overdue.

Choosing a project status

Milestones

A milestone is a goal inside a project, such as a beta or a launch: a name, a description, a target date and a status (Planned, In Progress, Done). The Milestones tab shows each one with a progress bar and its issues. Add issues to a milestone in the issue window, or drag them into its column when the board is grouped by milestone.

Deleting a milestone keeps its issues. They simply have no milestone anymore.

Two milestones with their progress and issues

Delete or restore a project

Delete on the overview moves the whole project to the trash with its issues, comments and files. For 14 days you can Restore it from the trash, and everything comes back.

04

Issues

An issue is one piece of work: a title, a description, its details, checklists, files and a conversation.

Create an issue

Press New issue or the C key. Write a title, a description if you like, and choose the status, priority, milestone and dates. Paste or drop pictures and files into the description: they are uploaded with the issue. Ctrl+Enter creates it.

You can also start from the plus at the top of a board column (the issue gets that column's status, priority or milestone) or from a day in the calendar (the issue is due that day).

A new issue

The issue window

Clicking an issue opens it over the page you were on. On the left: the number, who created it and when, the title, the description, files, checklists and comments. On the right: its details and Move to trash. Close it with the cross, Esc or a click outside, and you are back where you were. Its details are saved the moment you change them.

An issue with two checklists

Status, priority and other details

  • Status: where the work is. Choosing a new one moves the issue to the end of that column.
  • Priority: Urgent, High, Medium, Low or none.
  • Milestone: one of the project's milestones.
  • Start date and Due date: a calendar with Today and Clear. The start cannot be after the due date.
  • Assignee: the person or agent doing the work.
  • Labels: short tags separated by commas. A new word becomes a new label, and each label keeps its own colour.

Mewboard adds the labels telegram, email and share itself, so you can see where a request came from.

Due dates

A card shows its due date as a small chip: red when it is overdue, amber when it is due today or within two days, and Today or Tomorrow instead of a date. Done and canceled issues are never overdue. The same groups (overdue, today, the next 7 days, later, no date) work in Filter and Display.

Description in Markdown

Click the description to edit it. It understands bold text, inline code and code blocks, links and pictures. Paste a screenshot or drop a file and it is uploaded and inserted where the cursor is. Video and audio files play right in the text. Save or Ctrl+Enter saves, Esc cancels.

Editing a description; below, a checklist and the comments

Checklists

Split an issue into steps. Add checklist creates a named list. Type into Add an item and press Enter for the next one. Tick items as they are done, click any text to change it, and watch the percentage and the bar fill up. Hide checked items keeps long lists short.

An issue can have up to 20 checklists of up to 200 items. The card on the board shows how many items are done, for example 3/5, and turns green when all are.

Two checklists, one of them 80% done

Comments

The conversation sits under the issue, oldest first, with the author and the time. Comments use the same Markdown, and you can attach files with Attach, by pasting or by dropping them. Ctrl+Enter sends. The link button copies a link to that exact comment: opening it scrolls to the comment and highlights it.

Comments made by Claude and other agents look like everyone else's, signed with their name.

Files and pictures

Attach files to an issue, a comment or a whole project. Pictures show as square previews, video and audio get a player, and other files a tile with their type. Click a picture to open the viewer: zoom with the mouse wheel or the + and − buttons, drag to move, Fit or 1:1, the arrows for the next picture. Keys: ← →, + −, 0, 1, Esc.

On the free plan a file can be up to 25 MB, and a workspace holds 500 MB.

Move to trash, and undo

Move to trash in the issue window, the bar of selected issues or the Delete key sends issues to the trash without asking. A message with Undo stays for a few seconds to bring them back at once. After that they wait in the trash for 14 days.

The Undo message in the corner

When someone else changes the issue you are reading

The issue window updates by itself. If you are typing at that moment, Mewboard does not touch your text: a line at the top says the issue has just changed, with a button to refresh it when you are ready.

05

Views

The same issues as a board, a list, a timeline or a calendar. Search, filter and display settings work in all of them.

Board

A column per status, with the number of issues at the top. Drag a card to another column to change its status, or up and down to change its place. Columns can also be priorities, people, milestones, due dates or labels (see Display), and dropping a card into such a column sets that value.

A column shows 50 cards at a time, with a button for the rest. On a phone, press and hold a card to drag it.

The board, a column per status

What a card shows

From the top: the priority, the number, a pulsing dot while the issue is in progress, and the assignee. Then the title. Then the labels, the milestone, the due date, the number of comments and the checklist progress. Display decides which of these you see.

High priority, in progress, due in two days, 2 comments, checklist 2 of 4

List

A table grouped by status (or any other grouping), with the number, priority, title, status, milestone, due date and assignee. Click a group heading to fold it. Each group shows 100 rows at a time.

The list

Timeline

Every issue as a bar from its start date to its due date, coloured by status, with milestones as diamonds and a line for today. Drag a bar to move it, drag its ends to change the start or the due date, or drag along an empty line to give an issue its first dates. Week, Month and Quarter change the scale, Today scrolls back to today.

The timeline by month, grouped by status

Calendar

A month at a glance. Each issue sits on its due date (or its start date when it has no due date). Click a day to see all of its issues below the calendar, and use the plus on a day to create an issue due then. Issues without a date wait in a list under the calendar: drag one onto a day to set its due date.

The calendar, today selected

Search and Filter

Search issues finds issues by title and number as you type. The / key jumps into it.

Filter narrows the view by status, priority, assignee, label, milestone and due date. Pick several values in a field to see any of them; fields combine. Every value shows how many issues have it. Active filters stay visible as chips under the tabs, each with a cross to remove it. Filters are remembered per project in this browser.

Display

  • Columns on the board, Grouping elsewhere: status, priority, assignee, milestone, due date, label or none.
  • Ordering: by hand (the order you dragged), priority, due date, recently updated or newest. Both can be reversed.
  • Order completed by recency puts finished issues last, the most recent first.
  • Completed issues: all, the past week, the past month, or none.
  • Show empty groups in the list.
  • Display properties: which details cards and rows show.

Notifications and live updates

What the team and your agents change appears on your screen at once, and the bell keeps the list.

The bell

The bell collects what happened in the workspace: new issues, status changes, new comments, issues moved to the trash or restored, whether a person, an agent, Telegram or an email did it. The number on the bell, and in the browser tab, counts what is new for you; your own changes are not counted. Click a line to open that issue or comment. Mark all as read clears the number. Notifications are kept for 45 days.

Six unread changes by Leo and Claude Code

Live updates

When someone else moves a card, the board redraws without a reload, the card flashes briefly and a small message says who changed what. Click the message to open the issue. Mewboard never redraws under your hands: not while you drag a card, type, or have a menu open. It catches up a moment later.

Leo just moved WEB-7 to In Progress

Sounds

A soft two-note sound when someone else moves an issue to In Review, and a short chime when it moves to Done. Your own changes are silent. Turn each one on or off and set the volume in Appearance; the setting belongs to this device.

07

Requests from outside

Clients and colleagues do not need an account to send you work. Their messages become issues by themselves.

Telegram

On a project's Overview, press Connect Telegram, then Start in the bot that opens. From then on, every message you forward to the bot becomes an issue in that project: text, photos, files, voice messages and videos, up to 20 MB each. An album becomes one issue with all its files. The issue gets the label telegram and the name of the person who wrote the message, and the bot answers with its number.

In the bot, /projects lists your projects, /use KEY switches to another one, and /stop disconnects. The bot answers in the language of your Telegram.

Telegram connected to Client support

Email

Turn on email gives the project its own address. Send or forward a letter to it and it becomes an issue: the subject is the title, the text is the description, attachments are saved, and the label is email. A reply with the issue number in square brackets in the subject, like [WEB-12], is added to that issue as a comment.

To keep spam out, list the addresses or whole domains that may write. Get a new address replaces the address at once. Automatic replies are ignored, and a project accepts up to 100 letters a day.

The project's address, open to one client only

Share from your phone

Install Mewboard on your phone (see On your phone), and it appears in the Share menu of other apps. Share a note, a link or a message, choose the project, check the title, and it becomes an issue with the label share.

A note shared from another app

Where requests land

Requests arrive in Backlog like any other issue, so you can sort, assign and answer them in one place.

Claude and other AI agents

Agents work on the same issues as people, through MCP. Everything they do is signed and appears live.

Connect Claude

In Claude (on the web, the desktop app or the phone), open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste this address:

https://app.mewboard.com/mcp

A Mewboard window opens. Sign in, check what Claude will be allowed to do and press Allow. Claude never sees your password. It works as you, in the workspace that was open when you allowed it, with your role.

The window where you allow Claude

Claude Code and other agents

Claude Code connects the same way, with its own sign-in:

claude mcp add --transport http mewboard https://app.mewboard.com/mcp

Then type /mcp in Claude Code and sign in to Mewboard in the window that opens.

For agents and scripts that cannot sign in through a browser, create an access key in My account with Create an access key for a program. The key is shown only once. How to use it (for developers) gives the ready command. A key works as you, until you remove it.

An administrator can also add a separate program account, for example "Claude Code", so the agent's work is signed with its own name.

A new access key, with the command for Claude Code

What an agent can do

The same as a person with the same role: read and search, create and change projects, issues, milestones, checklists and comments, attach and read files, and move issues to the trash. One call can read an entire issue with its comments and files, pictures included.

You stay in control

Every change an agent makes is recorded under the name of its account and shows up live for the team, like anyone else's. Apps connected to my account lists your connections and keys with the date of their last use. Disconnect or Remove cuts one off at once. Administrators see every connection of the workspace in Connected apps.

A workspace always keeps at least one administrator, and nobody can lock themselves out.

People and programs

People lists everyone in the workspace with their role and access. Add a person or a program creates an account at once: a name, a role, an email if you like, and a password. Leave the password empty to create a program, such as an AI assistant, that works only with an access key.

  • Reset password gives someone a new password and signs them out everywhere.
  • Pause blocks an account without deleting anything; Allow again lets them back in.
  • Delete takes someone out of this workspace. The issues and comments they wrote stay.

The free plan has up to 5 people per workspace, programs included.

Access to chosen projects

Press All projects next to a member or a viewer to limit them to some projects. They will not see, find or receive notifications from the others, and neither will their agents or their Telegram. Administrators always see everything.

Invitation links

Under Invitation links, choose the role and press Create link. Send the link to someone who already has a Mewboard account: they open it, confirm, and join. Add their email, and Mewboard sends the invitation for you. A link works once and for 14 days; Copy link and Delete are next to it.

For developers

Everything in the app is also an API.

REST API

Send an access key as Authorization: Bearer mb_… to https://app.mewboard.com/api. Answers are JSON. Issues are named by their number (WEB-12) or their id everywhere. The key has the same role and access as its owner.

Fast at any size

Search finds an issue among a million in about 50 ms. Big projects load in pages, and boards draw 50 cards per column at a time, so a long backlog stays quick.

Try it on your own work.
